Jeremiah Devotions #10: “Call to me!”

Jeremiah Devotions #10: “Call to me!”

Bible Reading for Today: Jeremiah Chapters 33-36.

Jeremiah 33 3SCRIPTURE:

“Thus says the Lord who made the earth, the Lord who formed it to establish it (the Lord is His name): Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” (Jeremiah 33:2-3).

What a precious passage this is! Here the Lord, speaking through the prophet Jeremiah, gives them a revelation of who He is: He is the Lord who created the universe. As the Almighty Creator, nothing is too difficult for Him. All things are possible for God! And then He goes on to give His people a wonderful promise: If we will call on His name, He will answer us. God’s number is never busy, and He’ll never put you on hold! And when He answers, He will show us unexpected great and mighty things. Signs and wonders. Healings and miracles. Life transformation!

Over and over in the Bible, God has promised that if we will ask, we will receive; if we seek, we will find; and if we knock, the door will be opened to us. He has given us so many wonderful and precious promises to hear us when we pray, when we pray according to His Word. Therefore, we should come boldly before the throne of grace to find strength to help us in our time of need. Why do we always leave prayer as the last resort? It’s time for us as believers to seek God passionately in prayer, and see Him do great and mighty things in and through our lives.

Lord, what joy and what bliss this is! The awesome, powerful Creator of the universe not only created us, but you also love us, and invite us to call upon your mighty name. Help us to believe the promise, and draw near to you in faith, knowing that as we draw near to you, you will draw near to us. Take us deeper into the secret place of personal, intimate prayer. Reveal yourself to us in new and fresh ways in our lives. In Jesus’ wonderful name, amen!
