If God Is For Us, Who Can Be Against Us?:

“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:31-32).

To me it is one of the most absolutely amazing things to consider the fact that God has adopted me into His family! Are you a child of God? Is not this wonderful bliss? Think about it: The Scripture says that if God is for us, then who can be against us? No matter what happens in our lives, we can be confident that God is always working, a very present help in our times of need. No wonder the Scripture says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28). Do you love God? Are you called according to His purpose? Then you can rest assured that, no matter what is happening in your life, all things are working together for your good.

Can I share a personal testimony with you? The Lord Jesus has been incredibly good and gracious to me. Not only has He saved me, adopted me into His family, and accepted me in the beloved (as if that wasn’t enough), but also, He has richly blessed me with a beautiful wife, four amazing children, given me the awesome privilege of being in the ministry, and has showered me with countless blessings! I rejoice with the Psalmist who wrote, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.” (Psalm 68:19). Oh, child of God! Do you know the inheritance that is yours in Christ Jesus? Think about the truth of our Scripture today. He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? If God the Father gave us His only Son Jesus, then what other good thing would He withhold from us? Nothing.

The Bible calls us to, “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.” (Psalm 103:2). What are His benefits? Have you sinned, and are you in need of forgiveness? He forgives all our iniquities and sins. Are you sick, and are you in need of healing? He heals all our diseases. Are you in trouble, and do you need encouragement? He redeems our lives from destruction, crowns us with loving kindness, and satisfies our mouths with good things, so that our youth is renewed like the eagles. Are you struggling financially? Oh beloved, trust the Lord with your finances. Does not the Scripture say, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19).

Today, you may wonder whether or not these wonderful promises and benefits of salvation belong to you. Are you a child of God? The Bible says, “But as many as received (Jesus), to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” (John 1:12). If you will call upon the name of the Lord Jesus today, and trust Him to save you from your sins, then you, too, can be adopted into God’s family. Then you, too, can rejoice in the truth that, if God is for us, who can be against us? No one and nothing can separate us from His love! He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? May these truths encourage your heart today, and challenge you to praise and bless and exalt and honour the name of the Lord.
