Tell Two Friends… And So On, And So On…

Tell Two Friends…And So On…:

“And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” (2 Timothy 2:2).

Have you ever noticed how quickly e-mail jokes and fun photos travel around the entire world? Whenever a new joke would be e-mailed around, I used to get about a half dozen copies of it, all from different people. It reminds me of a shampoo commercial that was on TV when I was a kid. The commercial basically went something like this. When you use this product, then you tell two friends, and they each tell two friends, and so on, and so on, and so on. Then you go from just one person (you) who knows about it, to the two you tell, to the four they tell, to the eight they tell, then 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, etc. etc. etc. Soon everyone will know about this wonderful product. That reminds me of today’s Scripture.

The Bible says, “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” I was thinking about this Scripture in light of these daily e-mail devotionals. The Bible says that when we learn a truth from God’s Word, we are supposed to pass that truth on to other people, who hopefully in turn will do the same and share that truth with other people. I think that would be absolutely awesome if this kind of thing happened with these Faith Building Devotionals. Think about it—whenever you get an e-mail joke that’s really funny, you have to send it on to your friends and family members. Why? Because it made you laugh, and it was so good that you had to share it with someone. Now, I’m not for a moment presuming that I’m a great writer, but because these devotionals are based on God’s Word, that makes them worth passing on.

And so today I want to leave you with a short and simple little challenge. If you receive a daily devotional that encourages or challenges you, then forward it on to everyone you know. Perhaps not every one that you receive will fit into that category, but some of them will. Maybe you know someone who’s going through a really difficult time—I’ve written a number of devotionals that deal with the topic of encouragement and finding hope and strength in the Lord. Maybe you have a Christian friend who is backslidden. Take one of the challenging devotionals and forward it on to them! My desire in writing these devotionals is not only to minister to you, but also to give you tools that you can share with your loved ones to encourage and challenge them in the Lord as well. Another option of course is to post a link on your Facebook page to the blog these devotionals are posted on here:

The Lord Jesus Christ has given us a Great Commission, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.” (Matt. 28:19-20). We are all called to tell people the Good News about Jesus, and to teach them God’s Word. Let’s take the things that we learn from the Bible, and pass them on to our friends, who can pass them on to people they know as well. You tell two friends, and they can each tell two friends, and so on, and so on, and so on!
