You are Precious in His Sight:
“But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you…Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, And I have loved you.” (Isaiah 43:1-4).
I remember one time back in 2003 when my wife Liza had an opportunity to go to the children’s hospital in Vancouver to see a couple from our old church Bible Fellowship, and their newborn baby. Since the baby had been born premature over a month ago, she had been in the hospital. When Liza was there, she said the room they were in was full of other sick babies, but she also noticed something very remarkable—none of the other babies had any parents or family visiting them, including one that had just gotten out of surgery. That to me was unbelievable. If I had a child that was sick in the hospital, I would make sure that I was there with my baby every possible moment!
Do you belong to the Lord? Has He redeemed you? Has He called you by name? Are you His? If you’re a child of God—someone who has been born again and adopted into God’s family by trusting the Lord Jesus to be your Saviour—then God has become a Father to you. He has promised that no matter what happens to you, He will be with you. If you go through the waters, He will be with you. If you go through the rivers, they will not overflow. If you go through the fire, you will not be burned. For your Heavenly Father is the Lord your God, your Saviour. You are precious in His sight—He loves you. I know that as an imperfect, human father that I would do anything to protect and provide for my children. They are so precious to me. How much more will our Heavenly Father protect us and provide for us. You are precious in His sight.
Hear the heart of your Heavenly Father in this promise: “Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.” (Isaiah 49:15-16). Our Heavenly Father declares that just as a mother loves her nursing child, and has great love for that child, so the Lord loves His children, indeed, even MORE. He declares that He has carved us upon the palms of His hands—He has a tattoo of us. What a truly amazing thought! He will never leave us or forsake us or forget us. He never sleeps or slumbers. May this truth encourage your heart today: You are precious in His sight.
