“Hear the word of the Lord, You children of Israel, For the Lord brings a charge against the inhabitants of the land: “There is no truth or mercy Or knowledge of God in the land. By swearing and lying, Killing and stealing and committing adultery, They break all restraint, With bloodshed upon bloodshed. Therefore the land will mourn; And everyone who dwells there will waste away.” (Hosea 4:1-3).
How fitting are the words of the prophet Hosea to our land today – for both the nation of Canada and the United States. We are living in a day where there is no truth or mercy, or knowledge of God in the land. The land is filled with swearing, lying, killing, stealing, adultery, and everyone does what is right in their own eyes. Although our nation was founded on godly principles, we have become a pagan nation, where ungodliness is promoted, and righteousness is either ignored or mocked. Our land is mourning, and our people are wasting away, because of a lack of knowledge of God in our land. Is there a hope for our future, or are we destined to continue down the slippery slope into depravity and despair? I believe that there is hope, and it is found in the words of the prophet Hosea, recorded over 2,400 years ago.
“Come, and let us return to the Lord; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up. After two days He will revive us; On the third day He will raise us up, That we may live in His sight. Let us know, Let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain, Like the latter and former rain to the earth.” (Hosea 6:1-3).
We need to return to the Lord in repentance and holiness, and to pursue knowledge of the Lord. Our world needs a revival. We need a moving of the Spirit of the living God like never before. Our world cannot go on like it has been going on, or we’re going to literally destroy ourselves. It’s time to seek the Lord like never before, and ignite our planet with the fire of the Holy Spirit, lifting up a banner of
righteousness in our land. Let’s pray for revival. Let‘s pray like the sons of Korah, “Will You not revive us again, That Your people may rejoice in You?” (Psalm 85:6).
“if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14).
Friends, let’s humble ourselves and admit to the Lord that we need Him – we need Him in our families, in our churches, and in our country. We need to pray and seek His face like we never have before. It’s time for those of us who call ourselves Christians – who wear the name of Jesus – to turn from our wicked ways, and repent of our sins. Then, and only then, will the Lord hear from Heaven, and forgive our sins, and heal our land. Will you pray this with me? “Lord, we need a revival. We acknowledge our dependence upon You, and ask you to come and heal our land. Revive us, O Lord, and then send revival to our nation. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
