Jesus Never Changes:
- “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8).
- “I am the LORD, and I do not change.” (Malachi 3:6).
What an amazing truth for us to celebrate today. Think about it. Jesus never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is the Lord, and He does not change. Oh. If we could see what this means to us today, it would get us excited! Consider the words of this old preacher: “If one soul ever heard from heaven, another soul may. If one soul ever had an interview with God, another soul may. If any man ever knew his sins were forgiven at any period, another many may know his sins are forgiven now. If a man or woman ever was healed by the power of God, then men and women can be healed again.”
What does this mean? The Bible declares, “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” (Acts 10:38). God’s Word records the life and teachings and miracles of the Lord Jesus Christ. When Jesus walked the Earth almost 2,000 years ago, what happened? “The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.” (Matt. 11:5). If it is true (as the holy, inspired Word of God declares that it is) that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever, then doesn’t it make sense that He can still do those things today? If Jesus was a Healer yesterday, then He is a Healer today, and He will be a Healer tomorrow. He is the Lord, and He does not change.
This is encouraging news for us. When you read through the Four Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, you read story after story of men, women and children who came to Jesus in their time of need, and their lives were forever changed by the Master’s touch. The woman caught in the act of adultery had her sins forgiven by Jesus. The paralysed man brought to Jesus by his four friends received forgiveness of his sins, and healing of his sickness. The demon possessed man was delivered and set free from demonic oppression. Parents brought their children to Jesus, and He blessed them. Lazarus was raised from the dead. There was no problem too great that Jesus couldn’t handle it.
Do you need forgiveness of your sins today? Jesus is a Saviour, yesterday, today and forever. Do you need healing of a sickness or disease today? Jesus is a Healer, yesterday, today and forever. Do you need encouragement or comfort? Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed.” (Luke 4:18). Notice Jesus didn’t say “The Spirit of the Lord WAS upon me.” The Spirit of the Lord IS upon Jesus today. The name of the Lord is the great “I am” not “I was”. He is. He lives. Won’t you come to Him today?
- God sent His Son – they called Him Jesus, He came to love, heal and forgive,
- He lived and died to buy my pardon, An empty grave is there to prove my Saviour lives.
- Because He lives, I can face tomorrow, Because He lives all fear is gone;
- Because I know He holds the future, And life is worth the living – Just because he lives.
