The Secrets of the Secret Place

The Secrets of the Secret Place

Christianity isn’t a religion; it’s about a personal relationship with Jesus. This is one of the simplest yet most profound truths of the Christian faith. More than a long list of rules or a set of do’s and don’ts, the whole story of the Bible is about a loving God passionately pursuing a relationship with people.

Therefore, one of the most important things that we can learn to do is how to pray. Yet, too many people when they go to the place of prayer, find themselves distracted, bored, or running out of things to pray about… usually after about two minutes.

But Jesus said, “When you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” In other words, when you draw near to Jesus in prayer, go to your secret place and shut the door. Shut the door to all of the distractions in your life, and focus on Him.

When we spend time in the secret place of prayer – in silence, solitude, and mediating on the Scriptures, we are refreshed, renewed, and receive fresh vision and passion for living life. And not only that, but after our daily time with Jesus, we find ourselves becoming more like Him, and experiencing more of the fruit of the Spirit in our lives – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Go to Jesus today!

  1. This is confirmation! I just finished my next post (scheduled for next Wednesday), titled “Lonely Places” which addresses the need to separate ourselves from all and seek the Lord.It is only in HIs presence that we’ll find the fulness of joy, that we can be strengthened and develop a personal relationship with Him. God Bless you Pastor Chris! ~Rebecca~
