YOU can be a Hero!
I remember as a little child wearing a red towel around my neck, pretending that it was Superman’s cape. Who didn’t, right? There’s something in us from the time that we’re really young that looks up to and aspires to be a hero.
But what makes a hero super? Do you need to wear a big cape, blue tights, and underwear outside of your pants? Do you have to be bitten by a radioactive spider and thereby gain super powers? Or is being a hero something more… simple?
A hero is defined as “a man or woman of distinguished courage or ability, admired for their brave deeds and noble qualities.” That tells me anyone can choose to be a hero, if they want to.
If you’ve ever read the Bible before, you’ve probably noticed that it’s largely biographical. Rather than just giving us a list of rules or do’s and don’ts, God rather chose to fill His holy book with stories of men and women of faith who did great exploits for Him. Their lives are an example for us of how we too can be heroes of faith.
In Hebrews chapter eleven – the Hall of Faith – we have the accounts of the lives of many great men and women who were heroes for God: Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Moses and more. Each of their stories tells us how we can walk by faith, and be heroes today. You can be a hero – join the fight for what’s right!
