The Willingness of Jesus

The Willingness of Jesus

If you were to ask people today, “Do you believe God CAN heal people?” most of them would say, “Yes, I believe that God has the power to heal people. He is God, and He can do whatever He wants to.” If you were to ask them, “Do you believe that Jesus DID heal people in the past, two thousand years ago?” many of them would say, “Yes, I believe that Jesus did heal people in the past.” But if you were to ask a third question and say, “Do you believe that if you were sick today, that if we were to pray for you, that Jesus WOULD heal you?” there would be fewer people who would answer that question in the affirmative.

People question the willingness of Jesus to heal people. We know He CAN heal the sick, and we know He HAS healed the sick in the past, but we just don’t know whether He WILL heal the sick today.

One of the things we learn about Jesus in the Bible is His willingness to heal the sick. When a leper approached Jesus, looking for a healing touch, he made a very insightful statement when he said, “Lord, IF you are WILLING, You CAN make me clean.” He knew that if Jesus had the willingness, He had the ability to heal him. How did Jesus respond? He put out His hand and touched Him, saying, “I am willing.” See here the willingness of Jesus – God answers prayer!
